getting to the island
First, you should know, it really is an island – there are no tunnels or bridges connecting the Vineyard to the mainland, no traffic lights, no highways, no malls, and the highest speed limit is 45mph.

There are two ways to get to Martha’s Vineyard:

Option 1: Fly to the island.
Option 2: Take a ferry to the island.
By Air
The fastest, easiest option.
There are seasonal direct flights to Martha's Vineyard (MVY) from Boston,
New York, and Washington D.C. For more information on flights, including a list of airlines/airports that offer direct flights to Martha's Vineyard, click here.
By Sea
The Steamship Authority in Woods Hole, MA is the largest, most affordable ferry and offers the most frequent daily departures to Martha's Vineyard - it's also the only ferry that allows cars on board. If you are not bringing a car, you can buy a ticket for the ferry when you arrive at the dock.

COMING FROM BOSTON:
Once you land at Logan, you can rent a car or catch the Peter Pan bus, which takes you directly to the Steamship Authority port (about 2 hours) in Woods Hole, MA.
For the Peter Pan bus schedule from Logan to Woods Hole, MA - click here. You will need to buy this bus ticket in advance.
